“The most realistic self defence system in the UK today”

Combat Magazine

“It (Krav Maga) has more self defence cred than any other system we know about – and we know quite a bit about the subject!”

GQ Magazine

Best in the World for self defence. It is totally practical, no flashy kicks or great spiritual angle.

Starting Krav Maga

Starting Krav Maga

Krav Maga has a tough reputation. Deservedly so. But that reputation comes from its uncompromising methodology, not it’s difficulty for beginners. Starting Krav Maga is easy. You don’t need to have training experience or a high level of fitness. It’s your instructor’s job to give you skills and to push you to achieve a higher level of fitness.

Your First Krav Maga Classes

Aim to arrive a few minutes early and you’ll be able to meet your instructor before you train. British Krav Maga classes are taught by professionally trained Instructors, typically with thousands of  hours experience. Our Instructors are highly experienced at teaching people from all walks of life and all levels of experience, in fact teaching people just like you. Krav Maga can be taught to multi-blackbelt veterans bodyguards, police officers and ordinary civilians.

You can expect to be welcomed, given an opportunity to discuss training goals, previous experience and any medical issues you might have before training. Then you’ll be started off with basics coaching and a chance to train with a friendly and welcoming class. We promise that you will not experience bad attitudes or egos in our classes – we are pro-active in weeding out people who do not fit with the warm atmosphere of our classes.

What you need

Turning up to your first Krav Maga class couldn’t be easier: just wear comfy clothing such as tracksuit bottoms or leggings, t-shirt and trainers. You’ll also need to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. That’s it. If you keep training regularly, you’ll want to get a pair of 16oz boxing gloves and a gumshield, and a pair of forearm protectors, but none of this is essential for your first class.

What you’ll cover

British Krav Maga instructors teach on a rotating curriculum. This means that we rotate around different areas of the syllabus. The benefit of this is that it doesn’t matter where you jump in, you’ll be able to quickly catch up with everyone else as we rotate through. Core combatives – the basic fundamentals of Krav Maga – are taught and practiced every lesson, so you’ll be ingraining real skill from day one. That’s things like using your body’s rotation to generate power and having good footwork to avoid being knocked down in a fight.
